Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

We have been monitoring the situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19) closely and it is our goal to keep our patients informed about the proactive steps we are taking during this time and as the situation continues to unfold. The health and safety of our community is of our utmost priority. Therefore, we are closely following the guidelines from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Centers for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO) as well as local government regulations to ensure we are taking preventative measures in order to mitigate infection.

As we navigate this dynamic situation, we are adjusting our customer experience to help protect our patients and staff. Effective March 18, 2020 we will be implementing the following changes until further notice:

New Business hours

Mon-Fri: 8:30AM-5PM

Saturdays: 10AM-2PM

Sundays: Closed

 

If you are experiencing a fever, cough, or shortness of breath, please refrain from making an upcoming appointment.

Rescheduling of High Risk Patient Groups

Higher risk patients (elderly, diabetics, immunocompromised) may also be asked to reschedule for their safety. Our team will screen patients for COVID-19 prior to their appointment and before entering our office.

Our office will still be available to assist with on-line or phone orders for contact lenses and eyeglasses. We also have a new on-line ordering system for Alcon brand contacts which receive FREE shipping. We want to continue being here for our patients during this challenging time. Please let us know if you need special accommodations such as refills for ocular medications.

 

Reduced Appointment Slots

We kindly ask for your cooperation in the changes implemented to upcoming appointments. Although extensive disinfecting protocols are in place, we want to limit the number of people in our office. Therefore, appointments will now be scheduled (30-45) minutes apart from each other to allow for thorough disinfection after each patient care encounter.

 

Disinfection Procedures

As always, we follow CDC guidelines by disinfecting equipment and surfaces at each station and exam room between patients. We have adopted social distancing by limiting the number of employees and patients present in the office at one time. We have also provided hand washing stations and/or hand sanitizer for patients to use while at our office.

 

Frame Selecting Precautions

As a health precaution, we will require all patients to thoroughly wash their hands prior to previewing frames from our optical selection. We are also setting aside any frame(s) that patients try on and disinfecting those frames before returning them to our displays.

 

Our dedicated team of eye care professionals are here to help if you need further assistance. The changes implemented are only intended to provide the best eye care without compromising the well-being of our patients and staff. As we do our part to keep our office clean and safe, we encourage you to take notice of measures from the CDC for preventing the spread of viruses. We know some of these seem obvious, but following them goes a long way toward staying healthy and keeping our communities safe:

 

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Practice social distancing of six feet in public areas and avoid groups of more than 10 people.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.

  • Stay home if you have a fever, difficulty breathing or cough and call your PCP immediately.

We appreciate your understanding as we navigate this rapidly evolving situation. Please be advised that our current operations may be subject to change as we continue to monitor and evaluate the best course of action for our community.
